Do you have a great message but find it challenging to hear your voice in a noisy world?

If so, consider doing a TEDx talk.

Outstanding ones get tons of views on YouTube, making them a powerful way to reach many more people.

Just look what doing a TEDx talk in Houston did for Brené Brown.

Back in 2010, Brené was a little-known social work professor studying people who’d had significant life setbacks but who found a way to get back up again.

She later said these people “accept themselves and are unafraid to be vulnerable in their relationships.”

“They believed what made them vulnerable made them beautiful. They dare to be imperfect.”

Ironically, Brené realized she wasn’t practicing what she was preaching.

She was working hard, all the time, to keep others from judging and criticizing her.

With her therapist’s help, she finally got in touch with her vulnerability.

As she told The Guardian:

People want to be brave again. So the message is, do it! Get your courage on, but be clear that it won’t be easy.”

It was a valuable insight – one she knew others would benefit from hearing.

But getting her message heard wasn’t easy.

She borrowed money from her parents to self-publish her first book.

She sold copies out of the trunk of her car.

She did get a book deal — but it fell through.

Oprah Interviewed Brené Brown Multiple Times

In December 2010, Brené Brown gave her first TEDx talk in Houston on ‘The Power of Vulnerability.’

It became one of the top 5 most-viewed TEDx talks in the world.

It has over 58 million views between YouTube and the official TEDx site.

It led to her being invited to conclude the national TED conference with ‘Listening to Shame‘ in 2012 plus resulted in other recognition and success, including:

FIVE #1 New York Times bestselling books

The Gifts of Imperfection,’ ‘Daring Greatly,‘ ‘Rising Strong,’ ‘Braving the Wilderness,’ and ‘Dare to Lead.’

Brené Brown Appeared On ’60 Minutes’

Her work has been featured by NPR, CNN, PBS, and The Oprah Winfrey Network, among many other outlets, plus appearances in Self magazine, Elle magazine, and national newspapers like The Washington Post.

Earlier this year, Brené Brown became the first researcher to have a special on Netflix called ‘The Call to Courage.’

All the good things above came from Brené’s initial TEDx talk in Houston.

How about you?

Have you considered doing a TEDx talk to promote your ideas and work?

If not, you really should.

As I mentioned earlier, when you give an excellent TEDx talk, it’s not uncommon for the video of your talk to be seen on YouTube by hundreds of thousands worldwide.

Imagine someone Googling your name, and the first thing they see is a TEDx talk with many views.

That’s credibility!

But of course, there’s a lot you need to know to make this happen.

Steve Harrison’s team has helped many of his clients land TEDx talks in the last few years and have learned an enormous amount.

A few years ago, Steve Harrison’s team showed some clients how to get booked for and deliver a memorable TEDx talk.

He’s already helped 74 authors and speakers land and deliver a TEDx talk by following their system.

These results are even more impressive when you realize over 95% of people who apply to TEDx get rejected.

Steve’s Own TEDx Talk Has Has Over 468,000 Views On YouTube

Steve helped Carol Gunn with her TEDx talk about medical errors. It has over 145,000 views.

Dr. Clarence E. Davis used the system and created a 10-minute talk in Wilmington, Delaware.

His TEDx talk on Preventing Suicide became one of their highest-rated talks ever.

Juliette Watt came to Steve with an idea she had for a TEDx talk.

She followed the system, and her TEDx talk on Compassion Fatigue also has over 169,000 views and 4,000 likes.

The list goes on and on.

But as the saying goes, “The devil is in the details.”

There’s a lot you need to know, which is why 95% of speaker applications are rejected.

Would you like to give a successful TEDx talk?

You should really consider it.

Why?

Because when you give a great TEDx talk, it’s not uncommon for the video of your talk to be seen on YouTube by hundreds of thousands of people all around the world.

Imagine someone Googling your name and the first thing they see is your TEDx talk with more than 300,000 views.

That’s credibility!

Of course, there’s a lot you need to know to make this happen.

First, most TEDx organizers are flooded with applications from more would-be speakers than they can accept.

Plus, many organizers only accept applications based on narrow criteria, like being associated with a given university.

Second, the quality of the video you’ll get from your TEDx talk varies depending on the organizer — which is a problem because coming away with a compelling, well-edited video on YouTube is the biggest payoff of your talk.
