Klyuchevskaya Sopka, a volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, has been erupting since Oct. 15, sending plumes of lava up to 500 meters in the air.

The volcano previously erupted in June, but the local volcanological station noted that the lava flows this time were reaching unusual heights.

Local authorities were on high alert.
