Today at Sherman Elementary school in Nampa TDS Telecommunications LLC (TDS) surprised Viola Guterrez a 25-year custodian with the Hometown Hero Award.

The TDS Hometown Hero Award is to honor those who make a difference in the community.

Gutierrez is being honored for her 25 years of providing a clean and safe environment for the children attending school.

“I have personally worked with Vi for 24 years, the last 10 of which as her manager. I have never known someone with such a kind heart and an absolute dedication to all Nampa School District students and their security and safety at school,” said Shane Harrell, Account Project Manager for ABM, the school district’s contracted custodial provider.

Gutierrez received a special plaque and bouquet of flowers, and TDS also donated $1,000 to the Family and Community Resource Centers, that provide food, clothing, and community resource connections for families of the Nampa School District.

Previous Hometown hero awards have gone t Andrea Parker, the leader at the Treasure Valley Family YMCA in Meridian, and the Nampa Police Volunteers.
